Post  AmpGrl88 on Mon Apr 21, 2008 8:42 pm

I was watching VH1 classic over the weekend and they had Totally 80s on. They showed Wham. Who all liked them, raise your hand.... cheers LOL - I liked them!! They showed the Wake me up before you go go video - OMG!!!! George in those Daisy Duke shorts and yellow gloves!! ROFLOL but he had nice hair and was tanned Smile I didn't know that Andrew married one of the girls from Bananarama.

Some of the grps and songs I liked back then were:

Madonna - all of her 80s stuff
Motley Crue - best album they put out was Dr. Feelgood
Poision - yum-O liked all of their stuff until they decided to break up
Def Leppard - Hysteria best album
Mick Jagger and David Bowie duet - Dancing in the streets - lol
Go Gos - We've got the beat & Our Lips are sealed
Rick Springfield - Jessie's girl

There are so many songs and groups from the 80s I like until I can't list them all. Here are a few that I like:

Rozette-U Got the Look
Addicted to Love and I Didn't Mean to Turn You On, just to name a few.

I knew that for a while that Andrew from Wham! had married one of the band members from Bananarama. I heard that from some 80s retro show.

WHAM came on the scene when I was in the 3rd or 4th grade. They owned me by the time Careless Whisper was released Smile George and Andrew didn't stay together as a group very long. The next thing I knew I was hearing "I want your sex" - lol

Lionel Richie owned it in the 70s and 80s. Come on, face it, he was the Commodores! And, an Alabama native at that Very Happy One minute he was dancing on the ceiling talking about Penny lover while saying Say You, Say Me Smile And Rick Springfield - OMG!! We've discussed his many talents on another forum study I still have the HOTS for him!!!! Man, I watched him when I was about 6 or 7 when he was on GH

I wasn't a big big fan of Jon Bon Jovi even though I liked Ritchie more but still, they were good together as a group. I never saw them in concert.

Oh, and MC Hammer!! I really liked him until he went off the deep end and changed his whole attitude and music direction. I must say, I wore those type of pants that he wore too Embarassed

The 80s music was so much better than the 90s stuff, I do believe. I mean, you had Nirvana on 1 side and Nsync on the other. 80s rock in my book!!

LOL!!!! Yeah, there were a few songs from the 90s but very few. It seemed like music just hit rock bottom during that time. It was grunge or however you spell it and bubble gum pop. I was never a Nirvana fan and never did see what the thing about them was.

Kurt Cobain was a nasty person. When he was little, he would kill his pets. Sad

Well....no wonder he killed himself. I never understood their popularity. What did they attrack - people like them? Therefore, 80s rock Smile I liked the 70s stuff too....but the 80s brought about a whole new batch of music that I still enjoy listening to today. The 90s, can't say so much.

Nah - not me. I think the 90s music made me switch back to country. I listened to it for, I think, the entire decade until it started going to crap.

Lol. In my mind Country was always crap, lol. But you are from the south and I know you guys listen to that a lot down there because it's a part of the south.

Uh-oh!! Girl, if I didn't like you, I might get mad at that comment Very Happy I don't think liking or not liking country music has anything to do with being from the south. There's a lot of "yankees" that likes country. There's a lot of music that we have a common thread with and others we don't. It comes down to taste in music not from a geographical area.

The only music I still listen to from the 90's,is Mariah.
I still listen to her ,she's been my idol since age 11.

The rest of the 90's stuff, I can do without.

Too much grunge and other junk. No

80's forever! cheers

I like Maria's new song she has out! Is she getting married? She's sporting a big ole ring on her wedding finger. Isn't she dating Nick Cannon or am I getting him mixed up with the wrong girl? LOL I can't see Mariah with Nick Cannon and I cannot see John Meyer with Jennifer Anniston.

Anyway, back to the topic off hand, the 80s music - you can turn it on and it seems like it was released yesterday. The majorty of my 80s music did consist of glam rock mixed in with non glam - lol Motley Crue and Poison pretty much controlled my walkman cassette player. Gosh, I had the tapes running out all over the place! Def Leppard was good too - I never got to see them. Oh and INXS!! I wanted to marry Michael Hutchence - lol!! I saw them in concert back in 88. I have pictures from the show that have been packed up. I need to find them and think back to that time.

It does to an extent. You hear Country all the time in public places down south a lot. Not usually up here as much. And I never said that Northerners don't like or listen to Country at all. Not trying to be mean but please don't say Yankee. Razz
